Toyota Launches the NEW YARIS ATIV HEV in Thailand

Online Pre-Registration for the NEW bZ4X BEV Now Open

Mr. Noriaki Yamashita, President of Toyota Motor Thailand, and Mr. Kazuhiko Yoshioka Project Manager of the Yaris ATIV, along with Mr. Suphakorn Rattanawaraha, Executive Vice President of Toyota Motor Thailand, introduced the “NEW YARIS ATIV HEV”. This popular subcompact sedan in Thailand now comes with a hybrid powertrain, complementing the eco-car segment with a choice of 2 variants: the HEV Premium and the sportier, more exhilarating HEV GR Sport.

In addition, Toyota has opened online pre-registrations for the new bZ4X Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV). The vehicles are assembled and imported from Japan under Toyota’s high-quality manufacturing standards, with the full availability of standard spare parts and a highly reliable service network. The announcement was made on August 21, 2025, at Toyota ALIVE, Bangna.

Toyota Motor Thailand Co., Ltd. introduces the NEW YARIS ATIV HEV, available in HEV Premium and HEV GR Sport variants. It is powered by a 2NR-VEX 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder in-line DOHC 16-valve Dual VVT-i hybrid engine, combined with a permanent magnet synchronous motor and a Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery. This powertrain delivers a maximum output of 111 horsepower with a maximum fuel efficiency of 29.4 km/liter (based on ECO STICKER, tested in a laboratory under UN R101 standards, in HEV Premium). The exterior design of the HEV Premium model features a dark chrome upper grille, a metallic grey lower grille, and newly designed 16-inch alloy wheels. The interior is fully equipped with convenient functions, including a 10.1-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and a wireless charger. All of these specifications are complemented by Toyota’s superior standard of safety systems.

For the HEV GR Sport model, it offers a sleek, sporty aesthetic with a newly designed front grille featuring the GR logo and a full GR-S body kit, which includes front bumper skirt, side skirt set, rear bumper skirt and rear spoiler, newly designed 17-inch alloy wheels, black roof with black power-adjustable side mirrors with LED turn signals and automatic folding. The interior features black synthetic leather seats with the GR logo. The driving experience is made even more thrilling with a specially tuned suspension and Electric Power Steering (EPS).

Customers can also be confident in the after-sales service throughout the lifetime of their vehicle, with over 450 service centers nationwide staffed by a team of expert technicians experienced in hybrid systems, and a comprehensive standard of spare parts availability, all under the “TOYOTA NO.1 TRUSTED HEV” concept.

Mr. Noriaki Yamashita, President of Toyota Motor Thailand, said that  “As you know, the automotive industry in Thailand remains in a difficult situation. However, thanks to our full lineup, Toyota has maintained its position as the No. 1 brand with a high market share and achieved the No. 1 position in 7 segments this year. Furthermore, Thailand’s automotive industry is facing major changes, such as the further expansion of xEVs and SUVs. With the introduction of new models, BEVs are expanding in the xEV segment, but considering practicality, we believe that HEVs will continue to play an important role in line with global trends. And, in the SUV segment, large SUVs, known as the D segment SUV, are growing rapidly, primarily with BEVs, making SUVs the No. 1 segment in Thailand.

Today, Toyota is responding to these market trends by launching 2 new models, strengthening its full lineup to meet customer needs and achieving further growth.

The first one is a D-segment battery electric SUV, new bZ4x. The current bZ4X was introduced in 2022 as Thailand’s first Toyota BEV, part of the Thai government’s Package “EV 3.0″ initiative, but only 132 units was sold due to the supply constraints.

The New bZ4X will be imported as CBU from Japan, and will participate in the government’s EV3.5 package, aiming to challenge mass sales of 6,000 units in the first year as a model to meet growing customers’ demand.

You might think this is just a Minor Change, but it’s actually a major improvement that takes the product to an another level. It has an eye-catching and attractive design, faster charging times, and more importantly, the newly added front-wheel drive comes with a significantly improved EV driving range of 600*km under NEDC standard per a charge, better than many players. Max power is also increased significantly and full Toyota Safety Sense is also standardized.

I believe that the stability, steering feel, ride comfort, and braking performance are among “the best in class”. And we will hold a test drive event for the press at the end of October so that you can experience its excellence for yourself. The new bZ4X price will be officially announced in mid-October with deliveries expected to start from November onwards, but pre-registration with special offers is now open.

And now, Toyota has another big surprise coming for the new bZ4X…FWD grades start from 1.5 MB, and AWD grades start from 1.6 MB.

Furthermore, we are proud that the Yaris ATIV has been developed with the involvement of Thai engineers and is produced locally at the Gateway plant in Chachoengsao using 73% local parts, and is exported to more than 34 countries around the world, making a significant contribution to Thailand’s economy and the sustainability of the auto industry.

And now, in order to meet further customer demand in Thailand, including the growing demand for HEVs, and further contribute to the Thailand’s economy, this is “Be Confident & Beyond Expectation” — The “New ATIV Hybrid”. We aim to sell 20,000 units only by hybrids in the first year with 2 grades available, “HEV Premium” and “HEV GR Sport”.

In addition to the popular exterior, interior and comprehensive equipment, the base engine has been expanded from 1.2L to 1.5L. Together with our Trusted hybrid technology, it delivers powerful performance and a fun to drive experience, while achieving Best HEV fuel economy in Thailand of 29.4km/L.

The GR-S grade features a unique sporty design and suspension, offering even more fun to drive experience. Kazuhiko Yoshioka, project manager of New Yaris Ativ Hybrid will provide more details later.

Furthermore, we are proud to be able to further contribute to the Thai economy. Our local content ratio for ATIV hybrid will start at 65%, but we plan to expand it further and export to 23 countries.
